I guess I'll start off by asking what people think a good selection of sub-forums should be?
I listed a few in the "Announcement"-
1. Basic Concepts
2. Saam Mou Kiu
3. Chi Sim
4. Lineage History
5. Siu Nim (Lim) Tao
6. Chum Kiu
7. Cha'an
8. Help in dealing with "trolls" on other sites!
Any other ideas?

JK,
Great job! I am sure that this type of forum will be a fine complement to the VTMCF. Personally, I have experienced great trouble with my ISP's mail server. I don't always get all the emails (including the ones that I send myself) and it is quite frustrating. This forum has the added benefit on allowing people to read entire threads without combing back through various emails. So I really encourage our members to make full use of your forum to share and learn (without fear of how your posts will be received by the non-HFY community.)
Anyway, finally getting to your topic. My initial thought for an additional topic is "Learning methods in the HFY System". I will start it and see if people find it valuable. Thanks again...

JK, thanks for taking the initiative . . .
In addition to the topics you already mentioned, I want to add this one: 'Challenge'. . . I'd like to see an information exchange on our experience when things that we've learned are challenged.
E.g. when aliveness is involved, when serious energies are used, when your partner is resisting, when 'the heat is on'. Basically it is about experience in application of what we have learned.
Looking forward to some great discussions!

Thanks everyone. I hope this becomes a long lived forum and helps congele the Shaolin Wing Chun community.
I have already had several very good suggestions from a few people.
First, he suggested that I change the name of the forum to Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu Discussion Forum- I have done this. The name change was made to include Chi Sim as well as HFY in the scope of the site and discussions. So, this bbs will focus on all forms of original Shaolin Wing Chun and will therefore have a sub forum (or forums) devoted to the discussion of Chi Sim. I think this is certainly timely considering GM Hoffman's recent visit to the Museum and the resulting certification in the first level of Chi Sim by several Museum members.
Also suggested was that we make this bbs as public as possible instead of keeping it private for the HFY community only. I think this is a very good idea since, A- we want to spread the knowledge of HFY, and B- we do not want to look like we have something to hide. I think (as Levi thoughtfully advised) what we should do is allow the forum to get rolling along a little first (get a few threads going with good discussions) and get the basic Forums set before we mention it on KFO or WCML. At this time I will post an invitation or a link to HFY108 and ask all new visitors to review the Forum Rules before signing up or posting.
Once I figure out how to get the "Forum Rules" template to work I am going to post several rules for all members to adhere to. These will include, but will not be limited to, a statement that this site is dedicated to the advancement and supportive discussion of Hung Fa Yi and Chi Sim. I will delete "trolling" posts immediately and will not tolerate the kind of behaviour seen on KFO. This is our house- if someone brings personal attacks or off topic discussion or outright hostility to our house I will simply turn them away at the door and ban their IP address. If someone has legitimate questions we will do all we can to answer them. If anyone (who is not an HFY or Chi Sim practitioner) has any questions that cannot be answered here I will suggest they seek the "face to face" advice of GM Gee, Master Meng, or Master Loewenhagen.
It was suggested that people log on with their real names. Since a lot of people are already on with handles I think a good way around this is to ask that people sign their posts with their real names or at least supply thier real names in the Member Info section. We have nothing to hide here. Since we have nothing to hide and I am encouraging real interaction, unhindered by apprehensiveness or fear, we should use our real names. I will also ask that your lineage be posted in the Members Info section. Again, I have to find out how to customize the proper template to do this.
If needed, we can have a forum(s) that are visible to only selected members for private discussion.
I will work during the next few days to get the basic Chi Sim Forum, Forum Rules and Lineage registration set up.
Again- thanks for your participation!

Hi JK-
Totally agree on the statements being made . . . incl. the one on anonymity. However, now reality . . . I'm working, surfing and whatever buzzword that has been invented with internet, BBS and forums for more than 10 years now.
IMO there is one thing that we just have to live with: basically per definition the internet, BBS and forums are anonymous! Even the logging or tracking and tracing of IP-addresses (questionable if you wanna go that far) does not garantee anything.
As long as only Chi Sim and Hung Fa Yi practioners participate on this forum, you can control anonynimity . . . we know who the practioners are. However, when you make the forum available for the general public . . . it is almost (if not totally) impossible to get rid of anonymous members (these include members that do not user their own name.)
