If anyone is interested in my opinions about the WT instructors out there I will do my best to relay the information you request about them. I know most of the old timers personally and can find out from them information about anyone else who is credible from them (in which case I will post their opinion and put their name to it).
I also know quite a bit about the history of our lineage for all who are interested.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with any of your questions.

Hi White Lotus/DubChenBadanger (what's the name to use?),
I'm just curious: did you start your WT-career under Emin Boztepe, when he still was a member of the Leung Ting-organisation? If so, you had the choice of leaving Leung Ting and following Emin, or vice versa. So why did you choose Leung Ting? (Please, don't answer, if the question is too personal!)
Thanx,
Armin.

This story is a long one which will go into further detail this evening after I get home from work. For now let me state that I was a student of GGM Leung Ting for 10 years before Emin came to the United States.
Thank you for your post.
There will be more posted about this later.

White Lotus,
Do you know Dai-Sifu Sergio Iadarola personally? Is he still teaching WT in Holland?

Now to answer more about your question,
I decided to stay with GGM Ting because he was my Sifu and it made sense to me to stay with the source of the system rather than go off with someone who hadn't finished learning the entire system yet. By source I mean the Wing Tsun system. I mean no disrespect of other lineages.
The whole thing was a fiasco but if anyone is interested in what went on I can give you my take on it.
FYI: Badanger more or less means White Lotus in Tibetan so either handle is fine. It is what one of my qigong teachers called me. DubChen Badanger is my official title at my Gwan.

No I do not know Sergio.
I noticed that Sergio spells Wing Tsun differently than I do (he spells it Wing Tjun) which usually means he is no longer affiliated with our lineage.
He is still headquartered in Amsterdam.
Here is his phone number if you would like to contact him...
Phone: 06 25 29 10 08
or email if you care to drop him a line...

Hi White Lotus,
thanks for the answer. Maybe Emin hasn't finished the system, but he surely was the best fighter of WT. IMO it's good to hear, that knowledge means more to you than "punching knowledge".
Sergio spells it "Wing Tjun", as you said, but that doesn't mean he left the lineage - in the Netherlands "tj" stands for "ts". Just an info.
Thanks again.
Armin.

Hello DubChenBadanger :)
Do you know of any good instructors in Washington, DC?

There are several prospects I'm checking on for you.
I'll verify their status and get back to you with the top two or three.

Thank you very much!! I don't have a car, and the only Wing Tsun instructors I have been able to find (from any lineage) are in Virginia.
Thanks again for your time! :)

There are two DC instructors from different lineages than mine. One is a student of a friend of mine so I am waiting to hear back from him. I am also trying to contact a couple of students from our lineage who live there.
If none of these options work for you would you be interested in organizing a group for your area? That way everyone would be coming to you to train and eventually you could possibly oversee the area.
At any rate I will post the instructors that are there currently as soon as I can vouch for their credibility.

Thanks for the info about the Tjun thing. I am looking into it. Our spelling is a unique identifier and I don't see any mention of affiliation on his website. He also mentions Allen Fong as the "Honorary President". Another indication that he has left our lineage. I'll email him, find out, and post his answer.
I'm sure there would be many fighters from our organization that would not agree with your assumption that Emin is the best fighter in our organization. He was certainly the most well known though. I can't help but feel that this whole mess could have been avoided.
Thank you for your post.

Yes, fame doesn't always mean best. Just like when people think Bruce Lee was the best ever. He was highly skilled but even in his day there were others who were his equal, just not as famous as him, and since this was one of Bruce's goals, to be famous, he achieved it.

Thanks. The only ones I've been able to find were on the wingchun.org website, but although they were listed as being in DC, they were really in norther virginia, the closest being about 25 miles away from me, and I don't think it's accessible via metro).
If we can't find anyone, I would be happy to help out--we can talk more about that via email if it comes to that.
Thanks again! :)

Hi White Lotus,
well, the whole thing was a mess. I met Emin once and he seemed to be a very nice person. "Rumours" say, that he was only a tool back than, used at least by GM Kernspecht.
Being a person who likes 'happy endings', I still wait for the day when both Emin and William come together and talk. There has been too much bad blood between the different branches.
Best wishes,
Armin.

I agree 100%.
With all the political corruption in the world , we should not be fighting each other.
We have bigger fish to fry!
It seems that honor is dead and the wolves have gotten the sheep.
It is to the point that I am ashamed to call myself an American. It is a slur to the Canadians and every country from Mexico south.
I am doing all I can to battle this vile menace. I write newspaper editorials and constantly expose the vermin but it is as if everyone else is under their spell.
I'll climb down off my soapbox now and get back to the fight!

Hey Steve. Haven't seen ypu for many years. You most likeky do not remember me but I was SiFu Jaquet's student. Met you in Phoenix with a seminar with Gm Leung Ting. When I got promoted to Primary level in 1987.
Many things have changed over the years. I have moved on from the IWTA and now have my own organization. I have met many masters of various Wing Chun families. I no longer worry who is the best or true wing chun it is all good and I have learned many things from these masters. Mostly good idea and concepts. I have kept up my training and can still handle the younger students.

No this is not Steve Brandon but I do know of the free fight you guys had back in Phoenix. I remember something about a low blow. I wasn't there so it is hearsay.
I met you at a seminar in '85. I took the instructor seminar and the student seminar that year.
I'm glad you are doing well and comfortable with what you have been taught. I too have been around and seen a lot. The more I have searched the more I have appreciated what I have been taught by GGM Leung Ting.
Best of luck to you Donald.

any news yet on instructors in Washington, DC? I really want to learn Wing Chun, but it doesn't look like that's possible if you live in washington and don't own a car...

I have again contacted several students in the DC area in an effort to get you hooked up.
The Institue of Chinese Energy Boxing may be your best bet for now...
301 - 404 - 4306
You should call and get the particulars.
I will post info from other schools as they contact me.
One of Ip Ching's students is in the area also. I am friends with one of his head students and will do my best to get you in the door.
If patience were measured in specs of dust, you are a mountain my friend.
Hang in there.
