Beginning Buddhist studies

Greetings brothers and sisters. Would anyone be so kind as to recommend their favorite Buddhist books for beginners, especially books on Ch'an Buddhism?

I've picked up "The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching" by THICH NHAT HANH.

'Buddhism plain and simple' by Steve Hagen is a good read also one called 'The Beginner's Guide to Zen Buddhism' by Jean Smith.
for something a little more extensive read 'The Way to Buddhahood' by Master Venerable Yin-shun.
