Yip Mans-Ving Tsun has become a very famous style in the last 50 years.
But in contradiction to its early days, when Ving Tsun was famous for fighting,
now it is only famous for politis and money making
(what often means fooling people-unrealstic fighting concepts, fake stories about the own fighting career,
stories of being the grandmasters close-door-student, etc., etc.)
What a shame.

Michael,
Did you experience this first hand? Tell us some of your experiences that you encounter?

Hi MK,
but on the other hand, Ving Tsun had a big impact on the traditional marital arts. Remember how it was, before KRK's students went visiting schools and before all these 'we-show-other-systems-what-we-do-seminars'. Unrealistic self-defence ('deadly karate-movements', 'Judo is a killing system', ...).
Well, in other systems, they argue, too. But they don't go public with that. Aikido-teachers argue about ki, softness, fighting; karate-teachers argue about techniques, katas, bunkai; do tai chi-people of differerent styles argue?
An there's of course the advertisement of the EWTO and of it's spin-offs: 'Be a master in 4 years', 'learn in our online-academy' or: 'learn, what you sifu never understood'. People like KRK, HJR, Pfaff, Giese and all the other 'high-ranking sifu', they make a lot of money - and a lot of people are greedy.
They sell a dream and make a whole lot of money with that. On the other hand, there are a lot of people with small schools, who really try to teach their students how to fight. But most of these guys will never get heared. Most of them aren't interested in politics, they do no advertisement, they teach as good as possible.
Armin.
Did you experience this first hand?
Yes.
unrealstic fighting concepts
For example:
Chi-Sao, interpretated as 'Sticky-Hands'.
(chasing hands instead of trying to hit your opponent)
Footwork, that gives up the advantages of
flexiblity and stability.
famous for politis and money making
Read the books and articles that
had been published.
Watch the videos you can buy or find in the net.
Look at what's happens when s.o. is leaving the 'club' and what are those
leaving guys doing after they have left.
fake stories about the own fighting career,
Why people need their students to call them great gradmaster?
Why claim yourself as someones special student? (closed-door for e.g. everybodys knows, that Yip Man actually had none!)
Are the skills not good enough to prove
(practical and in theory) that one is not bad?
Yip Man, Wong Shun Leung never think of themselves as the grandmaster of any style.
So how could other students do this?
Can't they see how dangerous this
way of thinking is for the own development?!?
..............
Greetings
Michael
