I just spoke with Grandmaster Garrett Gee, and he recommended that I post here to annouce our upcoming documentary project.
So here goes!
I work for a TV production company that produces two PBS series on Chinese history and culture (called "Inside China" and "Land of the Dragon"). We also produce feature-length documentaries. Our next documentary will be about Kung Fu. We are currently contacting people in the Kung Fu community to let them know about this opportunity, and to encourage qualified and interested students to apply.
About the project:
We are looking for two SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Kung Fu students to participate in our next feature-length PBS travel documentary, called "Kung Fu Journey to the East". It will be filmed in China over 14 days, tentatively from April 15-30, 2006.
Applicants should be roughly between ages 22-35, easy-going, in good health, open-minded, adventurous, verbally expressive, willing to try new things, and not that familiar with Chinese culture. We prefer that you have some international travel under your belt, but NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IN CHINA.
All expenses will be covered, including international airfare, in-country travel, lodging, and meals. You will visit three locations: The Shaolin Temple, Wudang Mountain, and Emei Mountain. You will take lessons from Masters of China’s most renowned martial arts schools.
More information about the project, along with our application forms are available on our website at: http://www.d3mediagroup.com/whats_new/kungfu_journey.htm
We will review applications as they come in, and plan to make a decision by February 20, 2006, or sooner. Please send your applications ASAP!
We hope to hear from you!
