My understanding of time, space, and energy from the first level Hung Fa Yi perspective starts with understanding the three individually. Second is, how do I see them as a whole? Next, I look at the whole within a combat scenario. Lastly, time space and energy from a philosophical view.
Time is how long X takes to travel the distance from position A to position B. This is also a period or moment in time. For example, how fast can the weapon reach me? Or how much time does X (the weapon) have to move from A (Opponent) to B (Self). This is a question about a moment or period within combat. This time can also be seen as reactionary time. How fast can I react to this weapon coming at me? To further understand time we need to look at space.
Space can be seen as the distance to target, or the shared distance with an opponent. It can also be looked at from a self-awareness angle. First look at it from a distance to target standpoint, you could refer to this distance as range, because it is being looked at as if the target is stationary. Since all or most opponents try to move away, the range can change. If I look at it through the “shared distance with the opponent”, I have incorporated the possible change in range, and then we look at it from a self-awareness angle. If my body geometries are correct, I have set my self in an advantageous position, and understand now how space is shared in the beginning of any given scenario. But to truly understand, one must add together the time and space to understand the set up point. You put yourself in the most efficient space and time to deal with the energies to come. Now you have used a first level HFY knowledge of space, and time to control an opponent, giving you the time to deal with the weapon. I will explain more when we talk about combat.
Lets look at energy as what is used to deploy a weapon. Energy of course, can be looked at from different levels depending on your experiences with Chan. Energy governs time within the space or more easily said, that a weapon will go from point A to point B in X amount of time. Lets take the main two energies, which are hard (fire), and soft (water), and apply them to time and space as we venture towards the idea of how they exist together.
Within space exists time. Both, time and space are governed by the energy factor. If space changes then time must also change which means more energy. If the energy that is used within a certain distance is increased or decreased, then the time is changed, giving more or less space to understand. If space is increased then time of travel has increased and that means more energy must be applied to cover the distance. If space decreases then there is less time to react to energies applied. Lets take this to a combat level of understanding.
My understanding of time, space, and energy from a philosophical point of view is seeing reality as a given moment of truth within a point in space governed by the energy of the universe. Also, this energy of the universe is what supplies all living things. With the awareness of these three points you should be able to understand the here and now. You cannot live in the past because the time, space, and energies are dead or have already passed. It's a way of saying that you learn from the past. You should try not to expect thing of the future for the future can be altered by space or energy. This could go on for ever but then I would not be here right now. I would love to hear your views on the philosophies of time, space and energies or time and space in general.
