1. The definition of Wing Chun is praise spring.
2. The definition of economy of motion is using the least amount of space, in the shortest period of time, with the least amount of energy.
3. The definition of maximum energy is the point at which nothing can be added or subtracted.
4. The defintion of Si Taai Gung is teacher/great grandfather. Sifu Meng’s Si Taai Gung is Wong Ming (source: “Mastering Kung Fu,” Garrett Gee, Benny Meng, Richard Lowenhagen, page 45, figure 2.15)
5. Terminology for Kung Fu brother/sister:
Sihing - older brother
Didai - younger brother
Sije - older sister
Simui - younger sister
6. The definition of Lei is principle/law
7. One of the main points I take away from Sifu Meng's lectures is that HFY is based primarily on a physical or scientific law which I define as the nature of the universe or the law of nature. In most cases the nature of the universe or law of nature is a law that has been proven by testing a particular concept until verification of 100% efficiency is complete. As an individual learning HFY I am by no means qualified to question the HFY law of nature. When we look at any given scientific perspective there is always room to challenge any issues that lay before us. When a subject such as how FHY is rooted deep within laws of nature it would be very difficult to disprove or de-validate its concepts which would make it very difficult for the challenger to prove a credible point.
8. My simple answer is maximum efficiency! A HYI practitioner that is operating at Lei has a clear understanding of what scientific confines govern himself/herself paralleled with what scientific confines govern his/her opponent. The result is a clear advantage for the HYI practitioner operating at Lei.
