Sifu Hoffmann,
This is exciting news – your interaction with the Tang family. It should be interesting to hear more of the visit and some of the topics that were discussed.
Is this photo (from GM Hoffman's photo gallery) considered to be Kiu Sau or Chi Sau?
Kiu Sau or Chi Sau (http://www.hfy108.com/photohost/showphoto.php?photo=190&password=&sort=1&cat=500&page=1)
It looks like the wrists are in contact, so to me it seems that Sifu Tang Chung Pak is advancing into a trapping moment; I recognize that to be more of Chi Sau - whereas I believe in Kiu Sau the forearms would be connecting.
If it is Kiu Sau, using Tin-Yan-Dei (heaven man earth), would this be "Yan" Kiu Sau (man) because of the heighth of the arms? I was thinking based on the distance (depth) between them it might be Heaven range, but since both of their arms are connecting, I think it is Man range...
Respectfully,
-Savi.

Savi,
this is a picture from the Kam Na of Kiu Sao. But from this position chi sao is possible.
Heaven ("Searching bridge") - Man ("establishing bridge") - Earth ("controll through bridge"): from this point of view it is "Man".
In Kiu Sao you learn to use the forearms/ellbow("ging") but the contact area could be the wrist or shoulder, too.
Each style has slightly different explanations of the same words. So it is important to learn from personal experience and not through terms.
