well i'd LOVE to be the first one to christen this new sub-forum!
i train jow ga gung fu (jowga.com), which i've only been trainin since spring '99. its a siu lum derivative system which is a synthesis of hung ga, choy ga, and bak siu lam. so after bein invited by David E. to this forum, my curiosity was piqued in order to learn more about nam siu lum. my gung fu is still very novice and i hope to correspond with many like-minded(open-minded) individuals for mutual exchanges of information and experiences.

Welcome to the site mysteri, I am new here myself. I have only been coming here for a couple of weeks but I am very impressed by the members. They have all been both kind and very patient with this newbie. :)

Welcome to all new members, I hope to be enlightened in future conversations. Emptiness (Eric) I've seen you around but not to familiar with you yourself. Is there any thing you can share to better help in understanding you as a Kung Fu practitioner? And of course fill free to ask any questions one might have of myself.

Thanks For the warm welcome!!!
Before a month ago I was a newbie and had no prior knowledge of kung fu except what I had seen in the movies. One day I decided that I wanted to get in shape and in general just become a better person than a couch potato. So I started lifting weights and after watching some kung fu movies I went to the library looking for a book on kung fu and I found several but the ones that most appealed to me were this two:
Bruce Lee, The Tao of Gung Fu and
Mastering Kung Fu, Featuring Shaolin Wing Chun, by Garrett Gee, Benny Meng and Richard Loewenhagen.
I read part of Bruce Lee’s book and was left wanting. I read somewhere on the Internet that Bruce Lee started out learning Wing Chun. I noticed that the second book MKF was about Wing Chun and so I stared reading it and have been studying and ever since.
I looked up Hung Fa Yi on the Internet and eventually found my way to this forum where I have found some great people who I am know very proud and honored to be welcomed in HFY family. I am also very honored to have Master Meng as my sifu. Now I am just going to keep practicing and studying the MKF with the goal to find my true self (emptiness) and become the best person/practitioner as I can become.
Eric (this might be to much info but here it goes)

In all my life I to only knew of "Kung Fu", or any martial arts systems, from movies or television. As I started to become more aware of time as one true constant in our reality devouring my material body, I to needed to start awakening the one true constant in me, my will. And so as a means to ultimatley becoming more aware, I began my journey with my focus on that which I am conscious of most, my body. I started spinnig on my bike for miles on end, I would lift weight s from time to time and one day just over a year ago I crossed paths with a kind soul named Brad Ryan. Soon after we met He invited me out to lunch and like a ton of bricks floored me with the teachings of HFYWCKF. Ive been training with Sihing Brad since. As a family man, as many of you I'm sure is well aware, training consistantly with Sihing Brad has beed difficult. However, Sihing Brad has been patient and an ever so generous & gracious teacher and now a dear friend. I have also had the great fortune of meeting Sifu Benny Meng. Of the knowledge I have gained in my experience with HFYWCKF, it is the experience of humility and humbleness in the association of persons like Sifu Benny Meng and Sihing Brad Ryan that continiously inspires me on every level in my exsistance.
And now this forum is open to all like minded individuals who are in search of a pure and true path, Thanks to all of you who share your wisdom and time. I look forward to many years of guidance and knowledge gained along this path, our search for truth.
Sincerely,
