Savi, I hear of a school in Mesa with a Sifu/Dr privitly teaching Southern Preying Mantis to selected ones. Along with, Pa Kua (Ba Gua Zhang) Chuan or eight diagram palm, Tai Chi Chuan suprem ultamite boxing, i think its the yang style, and Hsing-I Chuan or form intention boxing.
Thanks for taking the time and energy of welcoming and I add my own.
Welcome to all families that represent Shaolin,
JamesHFYofAZ

Welcome to the hfy108 forum!
Are you a Sifu from Lee Kam Wing's Northern 7 star praying mantis kung fu family?

Thanks. :)
NO, I'm a student of mike biggie's, from al cheng's line etc..... We have a strong wong hon fun background, so it's 7 star but we like to just say northern mantis. LKW's stuff is close to what we do, he's closer than most of the stuff I've seen of LGY's mantis out there. Why do you ask?

Shirkers1, you're from Al Cheng's line?
I've met Neil Armstrong out here a few times, he's working down the road in Ning Bo. Great guy. We were trying to get up to a competition in Qingdao next month but the Chinese holidays times are so busy and difficult to travel in.

Shanghai.. Yes Al Chengs line. I've heard of neil but I don't think I've seen him or any of his guys move.
I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this. :) I know Al puts a lot more hand movements in his forms, Funk is more to the point but he's still kind of stiff I think it's his past martial arts experience sneaking through in his movements. But mike's stuff is very direct with a lot of fajing, he has a choy background before mantis so his body linking shows very well in his movements, and that carries over into his teaching.
I know mike's fine tuned his stuff over the years. Honestly I haven't seen any one elses mantis besides Funk from chengs line, and I know we differ slightly from Funks stuff so I don't know exactly how we fit in with that line but I know it's there. :)

North Phoenix, cross streets 36th st and thunderbird. Right off of the 51 and just south of the 101. What style and lineage are you associated with? You are more than welcome to stop by any time. I'll pm you with my number.
