View Full Version : TC Media Experience and Master Meng
I must say that this weekend in San Fran was an unbelievable experience!!! JK, James Crump and I flew up to contribute our efforts in the production of Master Meng’s upcoming Muk Yan Jong series for TC Media. Although it only took two days to capture the footage, we received bruises a plenty and excellent action shots (us getting beat up by our Sigung)! Sigung was fantastic in front of the cameras. You could tell he has had plenty of experience in this environment. There was no script being used, which Sigung prefers because it allows him to stay natural and speak from his heart. The crew at TC Media is very friendly and very gracious. I truly enjoyed their hospitality and efforts to promote the ever growing kung fu community.
JK, James... it's your turn!

The filming of the video was a very enlightneing experience. I felt very fortunate to get a semi private two day seminar on the Yip Man MYJ. We went over the entire form many many times, examined each section individualy and in minute detail, and went through all of applications as well as the basic principles and concepts of the wooden dummy.
The TC Media group was very gracious and welcoming. They were patient and allowed us to re-shoot anything Sigung wanted in order to get the video perfect.
The rest of the trip was a blast as well. Aside from the training at the Hung Fa Kwoon (which I will comment on after Savi starts) we went to the International Car show. I got quite a few good photos of the new cars and have posted them in the Photo Galleries. There are also quite a few excellent action shots from the MYJ video taping session.
I have quite a bit to say about the training at the HFK but will wait for Savi to start the thread.

The TC media video shoot was an exciting time, I must say that before going I was not looking forward to it, camera shy, preconceptions, and all. However, the adventure was one that cannot be forgotten. I really appreciate the chance of a lifetime that my sigung offered me.
Circumstances of the shoot were more stress full then anything. First, because it was a mounted dummy they could not attach it to the studio wall so this video was shot it the warehouse. The dummy itself was not a standard dummy. It was one that was very sturdy and did not absorb energies, slide, or have much play in the arms. The arm themselves, having a lot of height between them, and the thickness was about three inches at the base of the arms. The construction of the dummy was well built for a basic dummy to practice, just not what we were used to!
That and it was extremely cold in the warehouse it all and all a fun time and full of learning experiences. The energies that were shared from others can only be expressed by words like joy, happiness, enlightenment, a little stress due to never experiencing this avenue, and exhaustion. On the first day, we all arrived with the same amount of energy. Overall, we made it through the adventure!
