View Full Version : Cat washes face
Greetings again CS practitioners,
I have been taught a tool, the name of which translated comes out to "Cat washes face." Does anyone know the chinese words for this particular movement, and how they should be pronounced?
Thanks!

Hi the video tape has Nanyang Wing Chun on it wich is part Cho Family Wing Chun , Nanyang Wing Chun is a bit different than Yip Man Wing Chun . Unfortunatly i cannot make copies of the video tape or sell any of it , it is a private video tape and i dont want to get in trouble .
Hey Firehawk,
Do they give the chinese term on the tape?

I dont know what the term means in Chinese but i did see in a Magazine that i had awhile back on Lohan Kung Fu that they used the same term Cat Washes Face . The video tape does not have anybody talking on it .
Forgive my ignorance, but I've never heard of Lohan kung fu, what kind of system is it?
Lohan Kung Fu is what I studied before Wing Chun. It is also referred to as Lohan Fist, Lohan Longfist, Lohan 18 Hands (Lo Han Shi Ba Shou), the 18 Arhat Hands, and the 18 Hands of Arhat.
It is a very traditional Shaolin system that is rooted in traditional Shaolin Postures and power generation methods.

Sihing Levi,
Did you run across the chinese for such a motion during your Lohan Fist training?

Hi,
The pronunciation for "cat washes its face" would be (at least for us in Hung Ga) "Mau Yee Sai Mein".
Hope this helps.
