View Full Version : Introduction to Chi Sim Weng Chun
I would like to know what first steps a beginner would take into learning Chi Sim. What are the first couple things I would have to learn first? Is it partnering exercises? Fa Kuen? Hei Gung? Or would it depend on the instructor what I would learn first? I would greatly appreciate any guidance here. Thank you.

Hello Savi,
during my last seminars in VTM Master Meng and Sifu Jeremy helped me to translate the beginner level programme of Chi Sim Weng Chun into english. Weng Chun is a martial art, so the main focus are partnering exercises for all ranges of combat. Fa Kuen, Hei Gung, Ging exercises are helping you on this way.
For example, the "streching" programme are weng chun throws and counter throws.
Greetings
Sifu Hoffmann

Thank you very much GM Hoffman! I only have had the honor of practicing the Fa Kuen and some Chin Na from your last visit here in AZ. But am I wrong in assuming that the first focus of all exercises for beginner students would be Lauh (ie. flowing)?
Being that GM Hoffman stressed Lauh first and foremost in his visit here, I would assume that would also be the focus in all the exercises like Hei Gung, Ging training and the "stretching" program, right? That seems to be a common 'Shaolin' approach to training.
Thank you graciously, GM Hoffman!
